Frequently asked questions
Which of the two cutting modes should I use?
Fast copies the video across untouched and can only cut where a keyframe already is, so the result may begin up to a second early or late and it finishes in seconds. Precise re-encodes and lands on the exact frame you asked for, and it takes about as long as the clip runs.
What happens to the quality?
Anything that re-encodes the video costs a little quality, and this page tells you when it does. Trimming on a keyframe and removing the sound do not re-encode at all, so those come out identical to the original.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The video engine runs inside your browser, so your files are read on your device and never leave it. There is no account, no upload and no watermark.
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no trial, no watermark and no limit on how many videos you put through it. The site is paid for by ads.
