Scale a video down to 1280 pixels wide. The shape is kept, so nothing is stretched or cropped, and the file gets much smaller on the way.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is 720p still good enough?

For anything watched on a phone, in a chat window or inside a slide, yes: 720p is 1280 by 720 and at that size it is hard to tell from 1080p. It starts to matter when the video will be shown full screen on a large television.

    What happens to the quality?

Anything that re-encodes the video costs a little quality, and this page tells you when it does. Trimming on a keyframe and removing the sound do not re-encode at all, so those come out identical to the original.

    Is anything uploaded?

No. The video engine runs inside your browser, so your files are read on your device and never leave it. There is no account, no upload and no watermark.

    Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no trial, no watermark and no limit on how many videos you put through it. The site is paid for by ads.
